Should leave some words here to memorize this trip – TechFest Live
Feb 26: Arrived at Seattle at around 1:00p and then lived in Silver Clound Inn. Very good sleep at night.
Feb 27: Came to my temporal ofice at Building 112. A pre-scheduled meeting was canceled half-an-hour before the meeting shoud start, but got to know it after we arrived there (RedW-C). So actually I don’t have any meeting on that day, but only handling emails, as well as re-testing the demo. At around 5:30pm, we went to Conference center and set up the demo. It went quite well, while found a bug for desktop version. We asked LX to fixe it at Beijing. Actually it is a Web-based demo, so actually didn’t have much work for setting up. Very bad sleep at that night. Raining all the time.
Feb 28: Continue demo setup. At 2:00pm, went to RedW to meet a product team there and showed them the demo and they are very interested it. Then we came back to Conference Center, and the demo show started at 6:15pm. At 9:00pm, went back to hotel. Bad sleep at night.
Mar 1: Formal demo show, the first day. Many people were very interested in it. They kept asking when it will be availale :). Bill came to see the demo next to mine. It’s a pity. Actually he read my ThinkWeek paper and gave very positive feedbacks. I expected he seeing my demo, but I don’t know why he was directed to another one (which also has "video search" in its title, but actually it is audio or speech search). It was said he only had a look on four demos. A SVP came to my booth, but unfortunately, the demo crashed at that time 😦 Don’t have time to see other demos 😦 . Bad sleep at night. Sunny – very good weather at Seattle.
Mar 2: Demo show, second day. We arrived there just before the demo show started. Before that, I took a dog sleep after breakfast, because I didn’t sleep well last night :(. More people came to our booth. Some product teams seems are very interested in the technologies behind (I cannot put their name here :)). A jouralnist came to see it. An internal writer also came to see it, and reported on the Web (see TechFest Live). Jim Allchin and Kevin Johnson also came to see my demo together. Seems they like it very much :). I remember Jim Allchin has seen another TechFest demo of mine in the year of 2003, and some press in China have coverage on this 🙂 Actually I didn’t know there was an article talking about this till somone told me after a long time – once some classmates had dinner together, they said they read that article, and then I knew it :). Still don’t have time to see other demos 😦 Good sleep. Sunny.
Totally my demo has 308 hits. That’s not bad 🙂
Mar 3: Working at 112. Had lunch together with an old classmate, who now is working with Microsoft too. Will go to see NAB game tonight :). Sunny today.
